Happy to announce that my screenplay, Scarred received an Honorable Mention in the short film category of the Big Apple Film Festival. Grateful to have my work recognized by the @bigapplefilmfestival and with only appreciation and no negativity in their direction, it got me thinking…
Writing is something I love. Primarily a short story writer, the transition to screenwriting has been a challenging one for me, one that takes craft, skill, time, patience and passion. It makes me appreciate every screenwriter whose words, I’ve ever been blessed to embody.
What a gift to be able to write stories that take us on a journey, make someone feel seen, that educate, entertain, humble, honor, inspire, make us cry in empathy or laugh until our sides heart.
I think about all the writers whose words and stories got us through the dark days of the pandemic, were company on a lonely night, kept our kids entertained; the ones we want to watch over and over again because of how they made us feel.
In solidarity with the #WGA, my hope is writers’ value is understood, appreciated and compensated for their incredible and irreplaceable contribution.
