Scarred is an Official Selection at Austin Revolution

This one I had to let set in for a minute.

Last year at ARFF, I sat there, taking in all the artists, celebrating old & new friendships and meeting future collaborators, and celebrating the love & spirit of filmmaking. I remember feeling grateful as an actor for the honor of having my work appreciated and my film screened and being inspired for more… to be one of the ones making it happen, from the start.

I thought to myself… I want to be here next year with a script, or at least have one I felt proud enough to submit ( it wasn’t about the acceptance, but more about knowing I had been encouraged to make it a possibility. )

I love short stories and have been writing them for some time but I thought, what if…

and that “what if” became a script and I’m a bit shocked and also so incredibly grateful to @austinrevolution for accepting Scarred and helping me celebrate the other sides of myself as an artist.

And maybe this year as I sit there, among my filmfam, I’ll see in me the possibility of the director I’ve always hoped to be… with this incredible community of artists… who knows what’s possible next???

Together, we get to dream!

Thank you to Jim and Jessica and the incredible ARFF team

“Bartel’s Michaela is brilliant.”

Thank you to Kev Stewart of Wealth of Geeks for this wonderful review and these lovely words about my work.

“Bartel's Michaela is brilliant. Her somewhat inappropriate flirtatious behavior amid her grief is quite unsettling, but it also means you can't look away from her performance.”
